Stand for the gathering
A Hindu gathering in New York is being pressured by volume. Michigan Sanatanis spent the week learning that a private chat is not the same as a public constituency.

A large Hindu gathering is booked at Madison Square Garden for August 29. RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat is slated to speak. That is the public fact.
What Michigan heard this week is the civic fact underneath it.
Volume is the language the venue understands
People who want the night cancelled have been calling the hall in large numbers. At one point staff said most of the calls were to stop it. Support calls were sparse.
A private group chat can feel like a crowd. To the venue it is silence. The hall only hears who actually speaks to the hall.
This is a private booking, not a line on a public menu. Organizers have paid. Guest relations later said the night will happen. That is not the same as being uncontested next time.
What this is actually about for Michigan
Not a personality cult. Not a demand that every mandir board agree. A community that will not be easy to blacklist the next time it books a room.
Some in Michigan remember Times Square: a Ram Janmabhoomi celebration met a flood of opposition, ads were pulled, the event had to shrink. The lesson was not "never gather." It was "do not wait until the flood is the only volume the venue can hear."
Standing now is a deposit on the next gathering. If MSG only records opposition, the next Hindu booking in a major hall starts from a hole.
What actually moves a hall
Speak where the decision sits, not only among yourselves. A venue hears constituents, then it hears weight: civic names, elected offices, people who will be in the room.
Attend or don't on the merits of the teaching. Do not make an organization's brand the identity. Do not turn a booking into a purity test of who called and who stayed home.
The work is simpler than the argument around it. A living constituency has to be audible in public. Private heat is not the same as public standing.
The longer map for this fortnight is the cohesion watch.
