Self-rule as a civilizational word, not a campaign noun. What the term can carry, and what it should not be asked to carry.
Swarajya is easy to print and hard to keep honest.
What it can carry
Self-rule of a people who already know themselves. The refusal to wait for a distant court to assign you a self. The bind that made the Maratha lesson more than a raid.
What it should not carry
It should not be a brand for a personality. It should not be a demand that every other community disappear. It should not replace competence.
This digest is a fence. The word is useful inside the fence. Outside it, the word becomes noise.
